Words and Wires on the 23rd Psalm

During the May 7th broadcast of Sing For Joy, Pastor Benson referred to a sculpture by a "recently retired Chemistry Professor." That professor, Dr. John P. Walters, has graciously agreed to let us post pictures of his sculptures, along with his Artist's Statement.

We encourage you to take some time to read the Artist's Statement, linked here as a pdf, and view the pictures of his sculptures, posted below. The images and corresponding text have been posted in a way that reflects how they were hung on the wall. Thus, there is no sculpture to correspond with the text "I will fear no evil:".

Walter's Sculpture
Walter's Sculpture
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He Leadeth me beside
the still waters.
He maketh me lie down
in green pastures;

He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me beside the paths of
righteousness for His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:

For thou art with me; Thy rod and
thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies;

Thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.

And I will dwell in the house
of the Lord forever.
Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life;

Dr. Walters gives many thanks to Jill Ewald, director of the St. Olaf College Flaten Art Museum assistant and professor of Art, and to her student staff for their time and energy in displaying the sculptures.
